make your own nativity

This is a very easy Christmas craft to make as a family. You could make it all in one go or over a few weeks.

We always get out our Nativity set each Christmas – bought twenty years ago from The Early Learning Centre. It’s a great visual reminder of what Christmas is all about!

Mary, Joseph, the angel and the shepherd are made from paper plates. Here’s how…

cut a cheap paper plate in half
fold into three
Glue one of the thirds
fold and stick
you should be left with a triangle that can stand up
for each character add a round face, wool hair, clothes, wings for the angel and a pipe cleaner crook for the shepherd. Use what you have – enjoy colouring and sticking!
the manger is a paper party bag glued at the top with a handle shape cut out. Fill with shredded tissue paper and add Jesus. (This is not my idea – borrowed from pinterest). It is great for this activity because it stands up and you can balance the angel on top!

When you’ve made the characters use them to retell the story from Luke’s gospel.
